GEORGETOWN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT serves more than 13,200 students at ten elementary schools, four middle schools, three high schools, and two alternative campuses. Area high schools offer dual credit classes with both Austin Community College and the University of Texas. Graduation rate is
96%.
SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY is a private liberal arts college, located just across the street from Grace Episcopal’s central campus. Formed in 1873 from a revival of collegiate charters granted in 1840, Southwestern is the oldest college or university in the state. It is a small institution with an enrollment of 1,480 undergraduate students. Admissions is fairly competitive as the acceptance rate is 51%. Southwestern offers 40 bachelor’s degrees in the arts, sciences, fine arts, and music as well as interdisciplinary and pre-professional programs. Popular majors include Business, Psychology, and
Communications.
